WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Vikings don’t mind sharing when it comes to the league championship.

The Vikings routed the Eastern Eagles 71-46 Saturday night to earn a share of the Southern Ohio Conference title along with the Green Bobcats.

“When we started the season we had three goals and we’ve reached two of them,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller.

“We wanted to break the regular season win record and we have, we wanted to win the league and we want to go to the (Ohio University Convocation Center) and that’s still out there.”

The league title is the third for the Vikings in school history. They also won the title in 2003 and 2008. The 2001 team won 15 regular season games and 18 overall.

The Vikings are currently 17-3 overall and finish 12-2 in the conference after starting the season 1-2 in the SOC. The win was their 12th straight.

“I would have thought at the beginning of the year that 12-2 would win the league outright. I felt the league was that competitive,” said Fuller.

Luke Taylor had another monster game with 27 points and 21 rebounds. He also had five assists and two steals.

D.J. Miller scored 16 points to go with seven assists. Ryan Stanley got 10 points and Jacob Patterson grabbed seven rebounds.

Taylor scored nine points while Miller and Tyler Wilson six each in the first quarter as the Vikings went up 23-13.

Taylor had seven more in the second quarter and the lead was 36-23 at the half.

Stanley and Miller each scored eight points in the second half and Taylor got six in the fourth quarter as the Vikings continued to open up some distance between them and the Eagles.
