Man in jail after gun incident

A Flatwoods, Ky., man remains in the Lawrence County Jail facing aggravated menacing charges.
Dale Mayo, 50, of 905 Gilley St., Flatwoods, was arrested Friday evening following an incident in the parking lot of Frogtown on South Third Street.
Ironton Police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun at the bar at 6:36 p.m. There they saw a man with a handgun, pointing it and leaning over a truck cab.
“The suspect then got into the truck and pulled off the parking lot,” according to an IPD release.
The man then stopped at the 300 block of Pleasant Street where he was arrested. Several rounds of ammunition and a 9mm handgun were recovered.
“The weapon was loaded, but it appeared to have had malfunctioned,” the release stated.
Mayo has been charged with improper handling of a firearm, inducing panic and aggravated menacing.
