CALEDONIA —Roy W. Chatfield, 70, of Caledonia, passed away Monday March 7, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Franklin Furnace, on Nov. 21, 1940, to the late Ernest A. and Hattie Mae (Burke) Chatfield. Roy was a mechanic for the C.A. Jones and Co. Trucking. Roy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, family and friends. Survivors include his wife Maravell Chesser Chatfield; two sons, Emil L. (Susan) Tanner and Eric L. Tanner, both of Marion; two daughters, Roenia M. Howard of Marion and Sheri L. Chatfield of Caledonia; two brothers, Clyde Chatfield of Caledonia and Ralph (Becky) Chatfield of Portsmouth; one sister, Elizabeth Poplin of Franklin Furnace; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding Roy in death are one brother Jessie Chatfield, and one sister, Nettie Branegin.
