Sara (Ranson) McBride, cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly at her home in Pace, Fla., on March 13, 2011.
She was born in Ashland, Ky., on Nov. 12, 1944, and raised in Ironton. She resided in Roswell, N. M. and Bryan, Texas. She also resided in Pace for the past 20 years.
Sara was deeply devoted to her family. She is survived by her brother William Ranson (Carol), nieces Elizabeth Callaway (Christopher) and Anne Duncan (Scott), and grand-nephew Benjamin Callaway. She also leaves behind many close friends, neighbors, and coworkers. She loved her dogs and spent her final days serving as a foster mom through the Junior Humane Society.
Sara loved to cook and excelled at it. She made a mean apple pie and could fry fish like no other.
She was an avid reader and a masterful storyteller, and she loved classical music.
She also loved to travel, having been throughout the eastern and western seaboards, Canada, and Germany in recent years. After retirement this year, she was looking forward to spending extended time traveling throughout Japan and Scotland with her close friends.
Visitation will be at the NAS Whiting Field Chapel, Milton, Fla., on Wednesday at 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. For condolences or information, please contact Bill Ranson at wmranson@cox.net.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013-7243, noting donations are in memory of Sara McBride to benefit the Japan Earthquake. Donations can also be made to The Gideons International or The Humane Society.
