Body found in home three days after fire
PORTSMOUTH — (AP) Officials say a body has been found in an Ohio house three days after firefighters responding to a fire there were told by a homeowner that no one was inside.
The state fire marshal’s office says neither accidental nor intentional causes have been ruled out in the 6:30 a.m. Saturday fire at the rental home in Portsmouth in southern Ohio.
The adult male body was found Tuesday by officials who returned to the home to continue their investigation into the fire. The man’s identity is unknown and the Montgomery County coroner’s office is examining the body.
The fire marshal’s office says firefighters had no reason to believe the home was occupied when they found it engulfed in flames on Saturday.
No smoke alarms have been found.
