Florence Henderson

Florence C. Henderson, 81, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Lewis H. and Katherine Mullins Besco. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Irvin William Henderson.
Mrs. Henderson was a former cook for the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years. She enjoyed cooking and most inmates called her “Mom.” She was a friend to all who knew her and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gilda Durham; a son, Ronald Hutchinson; a daughter-in-law, Paula Henderson; six brothers, Rosco Besco, Phillip Besco, Ralph Besco, Dewey Besco, James Besco and Joey Besco; and four sisters, Helen Leach, Alice Rowe, Berdie Warner, and Ida Perry.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Elaine Hutchinson of Marysville, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, O’Dessia and Don Kline of Pedro;
daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Mark Monnig of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Henderson of Ironton; son and his fiancée, Thomas Henderson and Christy Craft of Pedro; special nephew, Larry Besco; special friends, Bill Winters, George Clutters, and Wilma Bare; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery and visitation will be today from 11a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
