PROCTORVILLE — It’s a chance to dress up, eat good food and help out others. That’s what will happen on April 10 when the Proctorville Woman’s Club hosts its fourth annual Relay for Life tea party.

“When I joined the team several years ago, we were trying to think up ideas for fundraisers,” Porcshia Davis, project chair, said. “I love the whole concept of tea parties and thought this was a nice way to raise some money. I am an avid tea drinker. This is right up my alley. I am a girly girl. I like dressing up and the hats.”

All money raised at the tea will go to the club’s Relay for Life Colorful Cuties team that raises money for cancer research. This year’s Relay for Life will be at the Chesapeake football field on May 20 and 21.

Sandy Bone, registered nurse and breast cancer survivor, will be the guest speaker.

“She is going to do a documentary that she and her sister made during her treatment and recovery,” Davis said.

The menu for the sit-down event will be checkerboard club sandwiches, cheesy bacon potato soup, fresh fruit and chocolate cherry cake, mini cheese cakes and frosted sugar cookies for dessert.

“This is a formal tea and the ladies will be served,” Davis said.

There will be three gourmet teas offered — a vanilla flavored white tea, a tropical green tea and a black oolong tea.

“I encourage people to try them all,” Davis said.

The tea will be from 1 to 3 p.m. April 10, at the Rome Church of Christ. Cost is $25 and tickets can be purchased from Davis at 304-544-8528 or 740-886-5800 or from any member of the club’s Relay for Life team. Reservations must be made by April 7.

“All the money will go for the Lawrence County Relay,” Davis said.
