The Flyers used 13 walks and five hits to score 17 runs as they rolled past the St. Patrick Saints 17-3 Saturday morning.

“It’s tough to stay patient when the other team’s pitchers are having trouble throwing strikes, but we did a good job of not getting too anxious,” said Flyers’ coach Greg Bryant who recorded his 200th career win.

Tanner Riley went four innings for the win. He struck out eight, walked one, gave up four hits and one earned run. Justin Mahlmeister finished up.

T.J. Young and Riley each went 2-3 at the plate and Nick Roach was 1-1.

The game was scoreless until the third inning when St. Joseph scored four times.

Grant Geswein and Levi Hopkins walked and Riley had an RBI single. Mahlmeister walked and Young spanked a two-run single.

The Flyers (4-0) exploded for 13 runs with the aid of 10 walks and three errors in the fourth inning to lead 17-0.

Riley, Young and Roach all had run-scoring singles in the inning.

St. Joseph will play South Point on Tuesday at a time and site to be determined.
