The Rock Hill Redwomen got all three Friday as they beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 10-2 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Sami Nixon gave up just two hits while striking out seven and walking only one to get the win.

The Redwomen (2-1, 1-0) had three triples among their eight hits with Brooke Hanshaw, Haylia Gannon and Dani Crabtree all connecting.

“That a big win,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper. “Sami pitched great, the defense was great and the offense just smacked the ball. Our young kids have really stepped up.”

Sashe Burcham hit a solo home run in the first inning to give Fairland a 1-0 lead that stood until Rock Hil scored twice in the fifth.

Gannon reached on a fielder’s choice, Chelsea Harper singled, both moved up on a passed ball and scored on Morgan Schug’s base hit.

Rock Hill erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning.

Hanshaw tripled and scored on a wild pitch for the first run.

Lindy Simpson reached on an error, BreeAnna Depriest was safe on a fielder’s choice and Gannon had a two-run triple.

Morgan Damron singled in a run, Harper walked and Schug had an RBI single. Crabtree tripled home two more runs and an error scored the final run.

Fairland got an unearned run in the bottom of the inning when Jaimie Phillips was hit by a pitch and scored on an error.

In league games Monday, Rock Hill is at Chesapeake and Fairland visits Coal Grove.
