Pancake breakfast will benefit autism

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Max and Erma’s in Huntington.

The event will benefit the 2011 Rally for Autism Event. The cost is $5 and tickets are available at the door. Registration forms for the April 30 rally will be available at the breakfast. Max and Erma’s is located at Pullman Square.

IBA hosts annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Ironton Business Association will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt at 6 p.m. April 19 on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn. The event is open to children up to 11 years old, and will be sectioned off by age groups.

The IBA will take pictures of the children with the Easter Bunny for $2, to cover the cost of film.

The Ironton Fire Department will help fill eggs, set up age divisions and transport the Easter Bunny to the courthouse.

If the event is cancelled due to rain, the new date will be April 20.

Ironton resident graduates military training course

Army Pvt. Daniel J. McGuire has graduated from the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

The course is designed to train the crew member in launch operations of various missiles and ammunition in quick strikes during combat. The student was trained to perform maintenance in various launchers and re-supply vehicles and reload ammunition on these type vehicles.

Students were trained to drive, operate, perform maintenance and ammunition re-loading of the M270 self-propelled loader launcher and the ammunition re-supply vehicle and trailer. They also learned to mount radio sets in vehicles, cables communication components in vehicle launcher, and operate and perform operator maintenance on communications equipment.

McGuire is the son of Gary A. and Megan L. McGuire of County Road 1A, Ironton.
