Redwomen roll past Lady Raiders in OVC, 13-2

BIDWELL — Even with all the weather delays, the Rock Hill Redwomen are staying on task.

The Redwomen remained unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 13-2 win over the River Valley Lady Raiders Wednesday.

“The kids are staying focused. They know they have to take it one game at a time,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper.

Rock Hill (5-1, 4-0) had 11 hits with Chelsea Harper going 4-4 and Brooke Hanshaw 2-3.

Sami Nixon got the win as she struck out seven, walked two and gave up six hits.

Harper singled, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Morgan Schug as Rock Hill took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

The lead went to 4-0 in the second.

Dani Crabtree tripled, Brooke Eastham was safe on an error and Haylia Gannon had a two-run single. Morgan Damron was hit by a pitch and Harper singled home a run.

Hanshaw tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the third to make it 5-1.

The Raiders got a run in the fourth to trail 5-2, but Rock Hill ended the game early with eight runs in the fifth.

Harper singled, Schug reached on an error and Hanshaw had an RBI single. Courtney Duncan walked to load the bases, Crabtree was safe on an error and Nicole Stamper had a two-run single. Damron doubled in two runs, Harper singled in another, Schug reached on an error and a wild pitch scored the final run.

The Redwomen play at Meigs on Tuesday.
