Ralph Moeller

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Ralph Henry Moeller, 78, died April 8, 2011, in Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Ironton, the fourth child of eight to Frank Bernard and Maude Allen Moeller. After graduating from Ironton High School in 1950 (where he was drum major), he attended Marshall College before serving his country in the US Navy during the Korean conflict (stateside). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University, Athens, in 1957. His business career began at INCO – Huntington Alloys (now Special Metals) in February of 1957 where he worked until his retirement in 1993. He served on the Cabell County Board of Education from 1976 until 1988, and as its president for four of those years. Ralph was an avid runner and fitness enthusiast, and participated in many organized running events including the Napa Valley Marathon in 1987. He moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. in 1998, where he continued his passion for outdoor activities and the theater. He was a regular gold medallist in the Senior Olympics, walked and ran on the beach daily, and was an active member in several local theater groups, including playing the lead in many plays and musicals. He will be remembered as a charismatic, witty, caring man with a penchant for showmanship. He leaves behind many friends.
Ralph is survived by his former wife Helen Moeller of Huntington, and his five children: Randy and Tamblyn Moeller, Seattle, WA, Frank and Debbie Moeller, Roanoke, Va., Chris Moeller, San Francisco, CA, Heidi Moeller Pagur, Huntington, W.Va. and Gretchen and Eric Bias, Huntington, W.Va. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Jack Moeller of Ormond Beach, Fla., and two sisters, Joyce Gothard of Lexington, Ky. and Jan Thompson of Columbus.
