Sheriff’s office looking into leads
The investigation continues into an armed robbery of a convenience store Saturday evening.
At 8:40 p.m. a man entered the Clark Pump and Shop on State Route 141 with a handgun and demanded money from the store’s safe, according to Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless.
The man was wearing an orange ski mask and a camouflage hunting jacket.
“The clerk advised him money was in the safe but that she did not have the combination,” Lawless said. “That is not unusual. Most clerks don’t have the combination to safes.”
The clerk did open the drawer of the cash register and gave him a small amount of cash. That amount is not being released at this time, the sheriff said.
“He then fled the gas station and she did not see a vehicle leave the lot or whether he had a vehicle somewhere else,” Lawless said.
Right not sheriff’s detectives are reviewing the store’s videotape and determining if there are any areas in the store where fingerprints can be taken.
“We are following up on some leads and anyone who knows anything about this should call the sheriff’s office,” Lawless said.
