PORTSMOUTH — “Monty Python’s Spamalot” is billed as a new musical (lovingly) ripped off from the motion picture, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It has run on Broadway and on tour and it is endeared to many who remember the TV show “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” from the 1970s as well as introduces the satire-laden comedy style to a new generation.

The final Broadway Series offering is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

“We end the season on a funny note this season rather than a symphonic one,” said Carl Daehler, executive director of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

Spamalot tells the oft-told and legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail, featuring a bevy of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and an armless and legless knight.
