PORTSMOUTH — “Monty Python’s Spamalot” is billed as a new musical (lovingly) ripped off from the motion picture, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It has run on Broadway and on tour and it is endeared to many who remember the TV show “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” from the 1970s as well as introduces the satire-laden comedy style to a new generation.

The final Broadway Series offering is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

“We end the season on a funny note this season rather than a symphonic one,” said Carl Daehler, executive director of the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

Spamalot tells the oft-told and legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail, featuring a bevy of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and an armless and legless knight.

Tickets to this silliness are available at the McKinley Box Office at the VRCFA on the campus of Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or call (740) 351-3600 or from any Ticketmaster outlet or the Website at Ticketmaster.com.

People are cautioned that tickets to the Broadway Series sell quickly. The Broadway Series is sponsored in part by the Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The Southern Ohio Performing Arts Association and Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts work together to bring quality, affordable entertainment to the tri-state area.
