Lady Pointers rout River Valley; Lady Panthers top Lady Dragons

BIDWELL — It wasn’t senior night, but the seniors still took charge.
The South Point Lady Pointers’ seniors accounted for seven of their 15 hits as they routed the River Valley Lady Raiders 15-3 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
South Point (12-2, 6-1) built a 6-0 lead in the first inning.
Kayla Fletcher had two singles in the inning and Brianna Whaley belted a three-run triple.
River Valley got a run in the second but the Lady Pointers got four in the fourth.
Ashley Goodall had a two-run double, Andrea Kleinman singled in a run and Kaitlyn Brown grounded out as a run scored.
The lead went to 12-2 in the fifth inning and the Lady Pointers added three more in the sixth to end the game.
Fletcher led the offense by going 4-5 with three stolen bases. Kleinman was 3-4 and Goodall 2-5.

CHESAPEAKE — Sarah Rice pitched a six-hitter and Taylor Riggs swung a big bat as the Chesapeake Lady Panthers beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 8-5 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Riggs went 3-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in as Chesapeake improved to 2-9 and 2-3 in the OVC.
Chesapeake took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Sarah Mayo singled, moved up on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Caitlin Heffner.
Mayo and Ali Ransbottom singled and Riggs doubled to make it 2-0 in the second.
Fairland took a 4-2 lead in the third inning.
Miranda Christian and Chelsey Stanley walked and Haley Woodall had a two-run double. Sashe Burcham then smacked a two-run homer.
Each team got a run in the fifth.
Rice doubled and came home on two ground outs. Myky Harmon got the RBI.
Chloe Stanley and Burcham walked and Amber Bias singled in the bottom of the inning.
But Chesapeake scored four times in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead.
Anna Mayo and Jordan Porter singled, Ransbottom reached on a fielder’s choice and Riggs belted a three-run triple. Sarah Mayo grounded out to score Riggs.
