John Marshall Anderson, 72, of Hanging Rock passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at his residence. The Columbus, Ind., native was born April 6, 1939, a son of the late Harry and Lillian Jackson Anderson. He was the husband of Carole “Pat” Lee Jackson who he married June 14, 1971.
John was a 1957 graduate of Bedford, Indiana School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He owned and promoted auto stunt shows and demolition derbies and was a salesman for entertainment. He was also a former promoter/entertainer for Variety Attractions in Zanesville, Ohio. He was a member of the Shepard’s Chapel and of the Protestant faith. John was a member of the NRA, the Showman’s League, Kentucky Colonel and the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Gayle Anderson; and two brothers, Donald and James Anderson.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John David and Gina Anderson of Decatur, Ind.; and six grandchildren, Melanie Anderson, Zac Anderson, Lacie Anderson, Isaac Anderson, Caitlynd McKnight and Lauren McKnight.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton with Chaplin Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
