Kidd had another strong offensive game and Schob’s first pitching appearance of the season resulted in a winning effort as the Rock Hill Redmen beat the Lewis County Lions 10-2 on Monday.

Kidd went 3-3 with a home run while Schob gave up six hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over six innings.

Ryan Hackworth finished up with a scoreless seventh inning.

“We hit the ball well. Drew Kidd hit the ball really well tonight. Schob threw the ball well for the first time on the mound and our kids stepped up,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.

Rock Hill (11-1) took the lead with a run in the first inning.

Shane Russell singled and went to second on an overthrow. He took third on a wild pitch and Kidd singled.

Lewis County (6-13) tied the game in the second on a single by Levi Clark, a walk to Kasey Riley and an error.

The Redmen regained the lead for good with two runs in the third.

Kidd doubled, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a hit by Cody Massie. After Massie stole second, Chris Donohue doubled him home.

The Lions got a run in the fourth on a double by Riley and Kyle Ruggles’ base hit.

But the Redmen got the run back in the fifth on a leadoff home run by Kidd.

Rock Hill put the game away with six runs in the sixth.

Matt Jenkins singled to start the inning. Ryan Depriest singled and Jared Bruce beat out an infield hit to load the bases. Russell singled home the first run, Kidd walked driving in a run and Schob had a two-run single. Donohue capped the rally with an RBI single.

Rock Hill is scheduled to finish a suspended game and then play the regularly scheduled game with South Point on Wednesday.

The Redmen can clinch at least a share of their second-ever Ohio Valley Conference title with two wins.
