Local radio legends are falling off airwaves

Recently, a legend in Tri-State radio was released from his job as the morning DJ at Magic 97.9 FM.

Ironton native JB Miller is well known to all Tri-State radio fans as well as many fans in other areas of the U.S.

JB’s 34 years in radio are a testimony to his dedication to the radio profession. He also has shown his versatility in radio as he has worked at a variety of stations with different formats. Another accomplishment is that he hosted a dating show from a Cincinnati station, which drew nationwide attention.

Almost everyone in the Tri-State has heard JB on the car radio while driving to work.

JB also has devoted himself to many, many worthwhile causes here in the Tri-State. His plaque on the Wall of Fame at the Huntington Civic Center is a testimony of his citizenship of the this area. Also, he faithfully announces the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade on local cable TV each year.

Hopefully, it will not be long before JB can find another job in Tri-State radio.

It saddens me that so many local radio legends have left the airwaves in the last few years. We need more radio announcers who are true friends of the Tri-State.
