Huntington couple deny forgery, other charges

A man and woman from Huntington, W.Va. charged with several felonies including forgery and misuse of credit card denied the allegations in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.

Jeremy B. Bailey, 32, of 6028 Hubbards Branch Road, Apartment 207, pleaded not guilty to misuse of credit cards, three counts of fourth-degree forgery and three counts of fifth-degree forgery.

Bailey’s co-defendant, Amanda L. Debraga, 25, of the same address, pleaded not guilty to misuse of a credit card and two counts of fifth-degree forgery.

Cooper set a $20,000 recognizance bond for Debraga. The judge set a $20,000 cash or surety bond for Bailey and allowed him to post 20 percent of the amount.

Both Bailey and Debraga have a pretrial hearing July 13.

In other cases:

Rebekah Greer, 29, of 2132 Thomas St., Ashland, Ky., admitted violating the terms of her community control sanctions. Cooper ordered that Greer’s CCS would continue with the added sanction of successfully completing a drug relapse program at the STAR Community Justice Center.

Michael Russell, 50, of 6139 State Route 243, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to felony criminal non-support of a child and misdemeanor criminal non-support of a child.

At the recommendation of Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier, Cooper set bond at $28,500, which is the amount that Russell owes for child support, Collier said.

Cooper ordered that the bond could be paid with cash, surety or real property. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for July 6.

Aaron Fields, 22, of 104 Remy St., Coal Grove, denied violating CSS. Cooper set a CCS trial for July 6.

Kricia D. Preston-Devaney, 23, of 212 Township Road 1336, South Point, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.

Cooper sentenced Preston-Devaney to four years of CCS including the successful completion of a program at the STAR Community Justice Center.

Preston-Devaney had no prior felonies, which was taken into consideration when sentencing was recommended, Collier told the court.

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to get my life straightened up,” Preston-Devaney told the judge.

“You’re welcome,” Cooper replied. “I hope it works for you.”

Seventeen months in prison have been reserved for Preston-Devaney in the event that she violates the terms of her CCS.

Derrick S. Cordle, 25, of 5238 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, Ky., denied a CCS violation. Cooper set trial for July 6.

Emory Burke, 30, of 104 Scott Ave., Ironton, admitted a CCS violation. Cooper sentenced Burke to 14 months in prison.

Jeremy Grizzle, 30, of 601 Hecla St., Ironton, denied a CCS violation. Cooper set a CSS trial for July 6.
