Joshua Walk could be only the first step

The Joshua Walk may be over but it is important for our community to continue down the path that was laid before us.
The walk, organized by Central Christian Church Pastor Brent Baker, brought together hundreds of faithful from churches across Ironton to pray for the city and to focus on its proverbial spiritual well-being.
Although we cannot reasonably expect to see tangible results overnight, our communities are already stronger because of this effort.
It brought dozens of churches together with a singular focus and we hope to see that continue well after the walk itself has passed.
If all goes well, this will be the first step in a longer journey that will form sustainable partnerships in the city of Ironton and across the entire county with the overall focus of improving quality of life for all citizens.
Everyone who participated deserve praise for the commitment to this cause and the faith that it can make a difference. For their efforts, all should be proud of themselves and are recognized with this week’s “Good News, Good Neighbors” spotlight.
The first real step toward positive change is getting like-minded people working together for a common goal. The Joshua Walk was the first step but the journey has just begun.
