Walter “Boney” Mullins

Walter “Boney” Mullins, 71, of Ironton, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 1, 1939, the son of Alma Keaton Mullins, a longtime Ironton resident now living in Millersburg and the late Simeon Mullins.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Shirley Mullins, whom he married Aug. 22, 1969.

Mr. Mullins attended Pedro Schools and was a former mechanic for the Dayton Malleable Iron Company for 36 years, retiring Aug. 30, 1999.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Mullins and Helen Mullins Gallicchio; and two brothers, Bob Mullins and Rick Mullins.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Helen and David Abston of Columbus; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris and Steve Mills and Kay Mullins all of Millersburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Phyllis Mullins and Simeon “Buddy” and Geneva Mullins, all of Ironton; and a brother-in-law, Don Gallicchio of Columbus.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Dalton officiating.
