Restaurants need ongoing help, support

If walls could talk then the little diner along State Route 93 in Pedro would have lots of stories to tell.
Hopefully its newest tale would be one of excitement and success for two new entrepreneurs hoping to buck the trend and open a successful restaurant in the location that has been home to many over the years, each with varying degrees of longevity.
The County Cruise-In Café recently opened its doors and first time restaurant owners Kevin Dickess and Sarah Cornelius of Kitts Hill are excited about its future.
The County Cruise-In Café will serve dairy bar favorites such as hotdogs and foot-longs, burgers, French fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fish tail and grilled chicken sandwiches. But they hope to differentiate themselves by offering only fresh ingredients.
The restaurant business is one of the toughest to survive in and we hope the community comes out to support this establishment and other small local restaurants that are in our county.
It is convenient and easy to only eat at the big-chain drive-ins but we all have to make a concerted effort to support local eateries that provide regional flavor and southern Ohio flair.
If we don’t, they won’t be here for long.
