PINE GROVE — The weekly Ladies Nine-Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club held its regular weekly meet on Tuesday morning with Shirley Gleim serving as hostess.
During the business meeting conducted by Pat Lambert to begin the day’s activities the group enjoyed homemade refreshments by Gleim who also arranged the golf partners for the day and planned the competitive golf events for the ladies.
Following play, lunch was served and the winners for the day were announced: Georgia Willis, Jane Mains, Joyce Fields and Lambert winning two events.
Barb Holmes reminisced about her grandmother working the club restaurant before the club built the present building and then again before the fire that destroyed the original clubhouse.
Her grandmother — Mrs. Gladys “Nan” Waginger — would occasionally bring her daughter Freda Holmes — Barb’s mother — with her to the club to enjoy the grounds.
The club will meet again Tuesday with a 9 a.m. meeting followed by golfing at 9:30.
New members are always welcomed.
