Carol Swartzwelder Porter Waller

DEERING — After a long illness, Carol Swartzwelder Porter Waller, 83, of Deering, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Jo-Lin Health Center.
Her parents were the late William H. and Olevia Rice Swartzwelder. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.R. Porter; a son, Mark Porter; two infants, James Steven Porter and Jane Ellen Porter, and a brother, Kermit Swartzwelder.
Mrs.Waller graduated from Coal Grove High School in 1946 and was a member of Ice creek Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the choir, taught Bible school and Sunday school.
She is survived by her second husband, Raymond Waller; two grandsons, Brandon Porter and Darius Porter; five great-grandchildren; two step-children, Julia Clay, of Florida and Brenda Bare of Ironton; a brother, Ted (Naomi) Swartzwelder of Wheelersburg; her sisters, Patty (Ron) Heyman of Conyers, Ga., and Peggy (Ray) Hardin of Eaton; a sister-in-law, Nancy Swartzwelder and numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. The family extends a special thanks to all the staff at Jo-Lin Health Care for their kindness and care during this difficult time.
Donations may be made to Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church Camp Fund in her name.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Tom Swartzwelder and Roger Pierce. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at 6-9 p.m. today at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home.
