Anyone planning to play volleyball at Ironton Middle School is asked to meet from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

Fighting Tigers season

football tickets on sale

The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ season football tickets are now on sale.

Tickets for six home games are $44. Checks should be made payable to the I.H.S. Athletic Department.

Fans should include at self-addressed stamped envelope and mail orders to:

Tickets will be mailed no later than Aug. 14. If fans do not receive their tickets by Aug. 21, contact the athletic department.

Ironton features a challenging home schedule that includes: Aug. 26 Wheelersburg; Sept. 2 Russell, Ky.; Sept. 9 Chillicothe; Oct. 7 Jackson; Oct. 21 Simon Kenton, Ky.; Oct. 28 Portsmouth.

Youth soccer clinic

set to begin Aug. 8

A youth soccer clinic will be held Aug. 8, 9 and 11 at the Ironton Soccer Fields.

The clinic is for youths under 6 and under 12. Registration forms are available at Bob Linn Sporting Goods, Bob Clyse Chevrolet-Buick-GMC, Unger’s Shoe Store and St. Joseph High School.

Wayne Middle School

St. Joseph golf scramble scheduled for Sept. 17

The St. Joseph boosters’ annual golf scramble will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at Diamond Links Golf Course.

Fee is $50 each. Prices will be awarded and lunch is provided. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

First OLBH/Flyer 5K Run

planned for Aug. 13

The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital/Ironton Catholic Schools Flyer 5K Run will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, starting at St. Joseph High School.

Fee is $15 before Aug. 7 and $20 after Aug. 7. Race day registration will be from 7-to-7:45 a.m.

The flat course will run through the city streets. There are 15 different age groups. A spray station will be available at Fourth and Jefferson streets. Water is provided at the halfway point.

The first 200 runners will be guaranteed a moisture-wicking shirt. There will be food and prizes at the conclusion of the race.

Redwomen Classic golf

scramble set for Aug. 20

The Redwomen Classic golf scramble will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at The Oaks Golf Course.

Fee is $55 each for the scramble that will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. There will be prizes for first and second place plus longest drive and closest to the pin contests.

Sharon Baptist Church will hold a 4-team golf scramble on Saturday at Diamond Links Golf Course.

There will be an 8 a.m. start. Entry fee is $240 per teams.

Dragons’ 5K benefit run

and walk set for Aug. 6

The Fairland Athletic Boosters will host the inaugural Dragon 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Jim Mayo Stadium.

Registration fee is $20 and runners and walkers can complete a registration form online by going to www.tristateracer.com or mail a completed form.

Registration on race day begins at 7:30 a.m.

The first 100 to register will receive T-shirt. Registering in advance will guarantee proper size.

Awards will be given in seven different age groups.

OHSAA basketball

officials’ class planned

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials in conjunction with the Ohio High School Athletic Association will conduct an officiating class beginning on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Chesapeake Middle School.

Classes will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturdays through November when testing will be completed.

The class consists of rule interpretation, mechanics and live scrimmages scheduled at area high schools.

Fee is $125 and covers all costs and testing except for the students OHSAA approved uniform.
