Victim was from Alliance

PEDRO — A motorcyclist was killed when the 1986 Honda Rebel he was riding went off the roadway striking a guardrail.

James M. Payton, 50, of Alliance was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County’s Coroner office Saturday evening, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 5:30 p.m. on State Route 93 at the mile post 9 in Elizabeth Township. Payton was alone on the bike, traveling northbound the highway.

Payton was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation.
