AARP driver safety class offered at South Point Library

SOUTH POINT — All drivers are invited to tune up their driving skills, learn defensive driving tips and update their knowledge of rules of the road at an AARP Driver Safety Course on Monday, Aug. 22, at the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library Southern Branch at 317 Solida Road, South Point.

The course begins at 10:30 a.m. and concludes by 3:30 p.m. with an hour lunch break. Registration begins at 10:15 a.m.

The fee for the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Payment is due the day of the course.

Checks or money orders may be made payable to AARP. Exact change is requested if paying in cash.

AARP members must present their membership cards to receive the member rate when they register and at the day of the class. All participants must bring their valid drivers’ license numbers. Advance registration forms can be completed at the Southern Branch Library or by calling 740-377-2288.

The AARP Driver Safety Program is a classroom driver improvement course for all drivers but is specifically designed for those who are age 50 and older.

This program, developed by the AARP, can sharpen driving skills, help prevent accidents and keep older drivers on the road longer and more safely.

For many people, the course can help them save money on car insurance.

Ohio law permits auto insurance carriers to offer a discount on premiums to qualified graduates of the approved AARP class. Policyholders should contact their carriers for more information about such discounts.
