HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington Y wants to share one of its best-kept secrets for older adults — the SilverSneakers Fitness Program.

SilverSneakers is a nationwide program that encourages older adults to take control of their health by engaging in physical activity and social events. Focus areas include building muscular strength, improving joint mobility and increasing cardiovascular endurance, leading to improved health and greater independence.

“In addition to all of the physical benefits, participating in SilverSneakers is a great way to create and strengthen friendships and increase mental sharpness,” said Brian Byrd, Branch Director of Phil Cline Family YMCA.
