Richard D. Sutton, 72, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at his residence.

The Ironton native was born July 24, 1939, a son of the late Robert and Faye (Sherman) Sutton. Richard is survived by his wife of five years, Nancy McClellan Sutton. Richard was a 1957 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He worked as a steel worker for A.K. Steel (Armco) where he retired after 20 years in 1993.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by three sons, Carl D. Sutton, Richard R. (Karen) Sutton, Michael T. (Bonnie) Sutton all of Ironton; a brother, Thomas (Cathy) Sutton; a sister, Marta Ramey; a granddaughter, Victoria (Andrew) Knipp of Coal Grove; two grandsons, Garrett Sutton and Richie Sutton both of Ironton and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Nancy Jane Sutton; a brother, Robert S. Sutton and a sister, Mary Jane Sutton.
