Henry Murray

Henry Franklin “Frank” Murray, 89, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at his residence.

The Magoffin Co., Ky., native was born Feb. 7, 1922, the son of the late John Loyd and Essie Lyon Murray. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Margaret Thompson Murray, whom he married Dec. 25, 1941.

Mr. Murray was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School, a carpenter for the carpenters local, and a member of Arabia Bapstist Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

In additon to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Locke of Ironton; a son, David Murray of North Carolina; three sisters, Mae Combs, Helen Barker both of Chillicothe, and Ruth Pfeifer of Waverly; a grandson, Teddy Locke and his wife Sarah of Columbus; a great grandson, Kyle Locke of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Woodland Cemetery with Elder Gene Masters officiating. There will be no public visitation. Friends and family can meet at 10:30 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, to follow the funeral procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
