Shirley A. Harmon, 72, of Ironton, passed away Monday Aug. 29, 2011, at her home.
She was a Columbus, born March 29, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Lessie White Derifield.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Curtis E. Harmon in 1996; two brothers, Ronald and Andrew Derifield and two sisters, Geraldine Burns and Shelva Burch.
She spent most of her life in Lawrence County attending Coal Grove schools and was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She retired in 2009 after 30 years of service with the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization.
She is survived by one sister, Eva Webb of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Dallas Derifield of Groveland, Fla., Donald Derifield of Franklin Furnace and Raymond Derifield of Ironton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Raymond Jenkins of Coal Grove and Teresa and Greg Dickess of Ironton; and one granddaughter, Courtney Jenkins of Ironton.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral with Pastor Larry Mullens and Roger Ramey officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
