Sherry Lynn Mershon, 49, of Ironton, formerly of Chesapeake, died Sept. 1, 2911, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 10, 1962 in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Linda Sue Fountain and William Fred Ray.

She was a graduate of Huntington East High School in Huntington, W.Va., and attended Shawnee State University. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ralph Ray and Gertrude Ray. Her fiancé, Gary Lee Bowman, Jr., died one day after her death on Sept. 2, 2011.

In addition to her father, she is survived by a stepmother, Judy Ray of Huntington, W.Va.; two sons, Ronald Mershon Jr., and his fiancé, Janice Ray of South Point, and William Andrew Mershon and his wife, Amanda of Westmoreland, W.Va.; two daughters, Krystle Ray and Stephanie Booth, both of Ironton; two sisters, Jamie Coppage and her husband, Michael, of Willow Wood and Melissa Fountain of Proctorville; two brothers, Jason Ray of Willow Wood and Billy Ray of Huntington, W.Va., and seven grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Herrenkohl Cemetery in Lesage, W.Va. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral chapel to help with final expenses. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
