Fighting Tigers’ golfers top Pointers

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Josh Zornes has played solid all year. His teammates are starting to imitate him.

Zornes took medalist honors while Rhett Ball and Travis Taylor had their best rounds of the season and the Ironton Fighting Tigers’ golf team picked up a dual match win over the South Point Pointers on Tuesday at Sugarwood Golf Course.

Zornes shot a 1-under par 35 while Ball fired a 49 and Taylor was two shots back at 51. Jaylen Thornhill rounded out the scoring with a 55 as Ironton had a 190-team score.

Callie Taylor shot a 44 to lead the Pointers. Barb Collins was next with a 53, Jordan Lynd had a 54 and Austin Wellman finished with a 56 to complete the scoring for a 207-team score.

Luke McGraw shot a 49 for Ironton St. Joseph.
