SOUTH POINT — Roy Vinton Wilson Sr., 79 of South Point, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at his residence.
The Lawrence County native was born June 23, 1932, the son of the late Thomas O. and Faye C. Bryant Wilson.
Mr. Wilson attended Ironton City Schools and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed playing guitars, collecting miniature classic car replicas and loved old westerns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Wilson; two brothers, Ernest Wilson and Thomas Wilson and two sisters, Sadie Maxie and Alice Crawford.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Wilson Jr. and Laura of South Point, Dennis Wilson and Brenda of Savannah, Ga., and Roger Wilson and Patricia of South Point; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Ross and Bob of Huntington, W.Va., and Karen Wood and David of South Point; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Crabtree of Kitts Hill.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Bocook officiating. Burial will follow in Crabtree Cemetery.
