Matthew Ryan Bloomfield

PEDRO — Matthew Ryan Bloomfield, 25, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, the result of a logging accident.

The Ironton native was born June 23, 1986, the son of Jonda Marie Akers of Pedro.

Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Rock Hill High School and Collins Career Center. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also liked to go frog gigging. He was a logger for the Sark Logging Company and was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by maternal great grandmother, Helen Akers; maternal great grandparents, Ernest and Hazel Bailey and his paternal grandmother, Margie Bloomfield.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Nathan Bloomfield and Travis Bloomfield both of Pedro; a daughter, Brianna Caroline Bloomfield of Michigan City, Ind.; his fiance’, Brooklyn Lee Miller of Oak Hill; maternal grandparents, Lee Roy and Ruth Akers of Pedro; his father, James Bloomfield of Ironton; a good friend, Paul Abrams of South Webster; several aunts, uncles, and cousins and special cousins; MaKenna, Kaylee, Peyton, Jacob and Michael.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phillips Funeral Home.
