Amid rainy weather and slippery field conditions, the Flyers missed on several scoring opportunities in a 5-2 loss to the Point Pleasant (W.Va.) Big Blacks in a soccer game on Thursday at Father Clouston Field.

“Considering the field and the weather, both teams played well. We missed several chances, but that’s soccer,” said Flyers’ coach Dan Blair.

“The thing that we’ll miss the most is the kids who are three outstanding defenders. Ike Palmer, Zach Dalton and Aaron Haas will be sorely missed. The coaching staff wants to wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Sophomore Joseph Payton scored both goals for the Flyers who end the regular season 10-5-1. They play in the sectional tournament at home on Wednesday at 5 p.m. against the winner of Monday’s game between Chesapeake and South Webster.
