Several Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization programs are relocating their offices to the Workforce Development Resource Center, 120 N. Second St., Ironton effective Nov. 1.

Those offices that are moving include the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) – Food Voucher/Fire Victim programs, Healthcare for the Homeless program as well as representatives from Family Guidance and Lawrence County Early Childhood Academy (Head Start).

The relocation is designed to improve services for clients, offering a true “1-Stop” service Jim Malone, CSBG outreach coordinator said.

“The main purpose is to get as many resources as possible under one roof. People can come in and be served. We have a lot of clients with multiple needs and this will be a one-stop where those needs can be met,” Malone said. He pointed out that many people who need assistance often have transportation problems. This will allow them to get a ride to one location and get all the help they need in one place at one time.

Other offices located in this building include General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) training services, employer and employee training services, the Youth Employment Academy and Adult Basic Learning Education (ABLE).

The Workforce Investment Act program (WIA), continues to be the lead service at the site and will continue to provide valuable assistance for county residents who are unemployed or underemployed.

Visitors may enter the offices for HEAP, Health Care for the Homeless, and CSBG Food Voucher Program via the double doors located near the corner of Center St. and Second St., directly across from Family Dollar. Visitors can enter the offices for Head Start or Family Guidance at the main entrance.
