Ruth Barber

Ruth A. Barber, 87, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at a local health care center.

The Coal Grove native was born Aug.6, 1924, the daughter of the late Albert and Bess Wilson Gannon and George and Margaret Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Robert O. Barber, who passed away March 22, 1966.

Mrs. Barber attended Ironton City Schools and was a former employee for Jo Lin Health Center, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ironton and lived all her life in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nora Williams, Mary Day and Ruth Lane; a brother, William Gannon and a son-in-law: Larry Forrest.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Forrest of Auburn, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Barnes-Wolfe and her husband, Larry of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Lori Forrest Cunningham and her husband Steve of Hudson, Ind., Robert “Ed” Forrest and his wife Jeri Ann of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Alysa Barnes Chapman and her husband Chuck of Noblesville, Ind., and Andrew Barnes and his wife Jeana of Rockledge, Fla.; six great grandchildren, Lucas Forrest, Bryson and Olivia Chapman, Mckinnis, Kylah and Mylie Barnes and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with her nephew, the Rev. Charles Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. RACELAND, Ky. — Olive Holbrook, 93, of Raceland, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at Our Lady Of Bellefonte Hospital. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoods Creek United Baptist Church in Westwood with Bro. J.D. Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
