Roberta Freeman

SOUTH POINT — Roberta F. Freeman, 78, of South Point, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va.

Roberta was born March 13, 1933, in Fort Gay, W.Va., and was a descendant of the McCoy family linked to the Hatfields and McCoys. She was retired as manager from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Credit Union after serving more than 30 years.

Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Carl Wellman; her mother, Frankie McCoy Wellman McKeehan; and her stepmother, Lois Wellman.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Freeman; three children, Michael L. Freeman, Donna Mroczko and Jane Snodgrass; six grandchildren, Chrisha, Krista, Joshua, Rachel, Shana and Michael; four stepgrandchildren, Jim, Kathy, Eddie, and Judy; two great grandchildren; eight great stepgrandchildren; one sister, Grace Sturgeon; and one brother, Danny Wellman.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington. Burial will follow. Visitation will be 6 – 9 p.m. today at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
