PROCTORVILLE — Now that’s what you call a team concept.

The Fairland Lady Dragons put 13 players in the scoring column as they crushed the Meigs Lady Marauders 86-29 on Thursday.

Terra Stapleton led the Lady Dragons with 26 points and 7 rebounds., Kayla Swiger had 18 points and 8 steals in their season opener.

“We did a good job of sharing the basketball. We had 13 different players score. I’m really happy with how unselfish we were,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

Fairland exploded for 30 points in the first quarter as Stapleton had 18 and it was 30-8.

Swiger scored 12 of her points in the second quarter and the lead swelled to 53-21 at the half.

“We played well in spurts. We lost our intensity at times, but I’m just glad to get a win our first time out,” said Buchanan.

The Lady Dragons outscored Meigs 20-4 in the third quarter to take an insurmountable 73-25 lead.

Fairland (1-0) hosts Chesapeake next Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
