SCIOTOVILLE — The hills might have been filled with the sound of music, but the Symmes Valley Vikings were filled with offense.

Showing a high-scoring offense for the first time this season, the Vikings outscored the Sciotoville East Tartans 77-73 on Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“I was pretty happy that our offense came alive,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller. “But winning at East was big. East and New Boston are two of the toughest places to win in our league.”

Tyler Rowe had 22 points and Austin Baldwin 20 to lead four players in double figures. Alec Herrell added 13 points and D.J. Miller 12 for the Vikings (1-2, 1-0).

Rowe also had 12 rebounds while Miller had 8 assists and 3 steals.

Justin Crager poured in 42 points to lead East (0-3, 0-1). Patrick Bias had 13 points and John Watkins 10.

“We tried three different people against (Crager) and changed defenses, but regardless of what we did it didn’t bother him,” said Fuller.

The Vikings led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter and then Baldwin had 12 points in the second quarter as the lead went to 37-27 at the half.

Crager poured in 16 points in the third quarter as East took a 53-52 lead.

Crager had 12 more in the fourth quarter, but Miller converted 6-of-6 and Rowe 5-of-6 at the foul line as the Vikings rallied for the win.
