CROWN CITY — When you’re hot, you’re hot.

South Gallia hit four 3-pointers and a variety of 15-foot shots as they outscored the Vikings 29-5 in the first quarter and went on to a 77-50 win over the Symmes Valley Vikings on Friday.

“They came out red-hot,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller. “We had another bad start and they’re a god team and that’s not a good combination.”

John Johnson scored 8 points, Cory Haner 7 points and Danny Matney hit two 3-pointers in the scoring outburst.

Tyler Rowe scored 11 of the Vikings’ 14 points in the second quarter and it was 41-19 at the half.

The Rebels hit three more 3-pointers in the third quarter and opened up a 62-35 lead.

Each team scored 15 points in the fourth quarter.

“We played better after the first quarter. They kept pressing us and we played right with them,” said Fuller.

Rowe had 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Vikings (4-4). Austin Baldwin had 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Haner led all scorers with 21 points for the Rebels (4-1) who had five players in double figures.
