Alberta Wilds
Alberta Wilds, 90 of Ironton left this earth Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, to make her home in heaven.
“Granny” Bert was the daughter of the late Edward Corn and Anna Webb. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Wilds, a granddaughter, Robyn Allen, four brothers, John Corn, Edward Corn, Glenn Corn and Jim Corn and a son-in-law, Paul Long.
Bertie has been a lifelong member of Royersville Missionary Baptist Church and will be missed by her church family. Bert’s earthly body will be laid to rest at Etna Cemetery but her giving spirit and her unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves behind her loving family, two daughters and a son-in-law, Dreama Long of Ironton and Joy and Ronnie Allen of Kennansville, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Carol Wilds of Columbus, and Dane and Sherry Wilds of Ironton and a foster daughter, Brenda Carpenter of Ironton. Bert has left a lasting impression on her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, a special granddaughter and caregiver, Penny Long of Ironton, Kathy Bamer of Ironton, Rhonda Allen of Catlettsburg, Ky., Eddie Allen of Kennansville, Fla., John Wilds of Mt. Vernon, David Wilds of Columbus, Greg Wilds of Ironton, Kevin Wilds of Ironton, Amy Carpenter of Ashland, Jami Hinzman of New Vienna and Kayla Carpenter of Ironton; 12 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye White; two brothers-in-law, the Rev. Jarvis “Mick” Wilds and Jack Wilds and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Royersville Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Markins and her great grandson Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Etna Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Archie Fitzpatrick
KETTERING — Archie Robert Fitzpatrick Sr. 59 of Kettering, formerly of Pedro, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his residence. The Kermit, W.Va., native was born June 5, 1952, the son of the late Robert Fitzpatrick and Lena Mae Sturgell Fitzpatrick.
Mr. Fitzpatrick attended Central High School in Columbus and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an employee at B.D.I. in Dayton.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Boring Fitzpatrick; and one son, Archie (Robbie) Fitzpatrick Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Kim of Kettering; one daughter and son-in-law, Dessie and Ronnie Moore of Oak Hill; two stepchildren, Jessica and Nick; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Kelton Fitzpatrick of Canal Winchester; and one sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Jessie Fields of Catlettsburg, Ky.
Visitation will 5-8 p.m. today at the Magetti Gavin Funeral Home in Dayton, Ohio. Visitation will be 12 p.m. Friday with the service Friday at 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Thelma Lewis
Thelma Mae Lewis, 60, of Ironton, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at her residence. The Ironton native was born April 12, 1951, the daughter of the late Stanley Gunter and Betty Ross Lewis. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, George Lee Lewis, whom she married Aug. 23, 1967.
Thelma was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Henderson; and a great nephew, Kenneth Gunter, Jr.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Norma Jean Lewis of Chesapeake, Pauline Jenkins and Mamie Lewis, both of South Point; nine sons, Michael Lewis of South Point, George Lewis Jr. of Kitts Hill, Jimmy Worley of Ashland, Ky., Joey Lewis of Florida and Dale Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Terry Lewis, Earl Lewis, and Paul Lewis, all of Ironton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley “Corky” and Suzan Gunter of Wurtland, Ky., Kenny and Sara Gunter of Ironton, and Dale and Diane Gunter of Ironton; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery and visitation will be today from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Lillian Hoffman
FRANKLIN FURNACE — Lillian “Octie” Hoffman, 67, of Franklin Furnace, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at SOMC Hospice. Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today and one hour before the services Friday at the funeral home.
Buck Robinson
Howard B. “Buck” Robinson, 77, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his residence.
The Pedro native was born Nov.27, 1934, the son of the late Isaac and Winnie Sutherland Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Connie Collins Robinson, whom he married May 5, 1984.
Buck was a 1953 graduate of Waterloo High School. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as an E8 Senior Master Sergeant after serving for 24 years. He served in England, Korea, Thailand and the Phillipines, where he was the fire chief on the flight line. After his military career, he was a former fire chief in Saudi Arabia and also worked in the oil fields in Louisiana. After returning home, he received his associate degree in business management and real estate management from Huntington Business College and sold real estate for Grant Realty for several years. He was a lifetime member and former post commander for the VFW Post 8850 in Ironton; he was a member of the AmVets Post 95 in Greenup, Ky., DAV, and the American Legion Post 0093 in Ceredo, W. Va. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 0070 in Carbondale, Kansas for 45 years. Buck truly loved his family, traveling and playing cards with his friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Wayne Robinson, Barney Robinson, Farley Robinson, Roy Robinson, Radford Robinson, and Charles Robinson and a sister, Cara Henderson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie Robinson of Daytona Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Jack Robinson of Georgetown, Calif., Don Robinson of Bridgeport, Mich., and Ken Robinson of Birch Run, Mich.; three sisters, Eva Estep and Juanita Murnahan, both of Ironton and Judy Schmidt of Pataskala and many nieces and nephews and loving in-laws.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ASHLAND, Ky. — Billie Joe Seabolt, 71, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home.
