PROCTORVILLE — When the Fairland Lady Dragons set a goal, they do their best to achieve it.

The Fairland’s defense reached its goal by limiting River Valley to 10 of 38 shooting for 26 percent including 4 of 15 from the 3-point line as the Lady Dragons routed the Lady Raiders 77-32 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.

“We wanted to hold them under 30 percent from the field and we did,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan. “We knew they shot a lot from the 3-point range and we wanted to take that away.”

While the defense was doing its job, 12 different players scored on offense with four reaching double figures.

Terra Stapleton had 12 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Lady Dragons (14-0, 7-0). Chandler Fulks had 11 points and 6 assists, Kerie Napier 10 points and 3 blocked shots, and Kelsey Riley finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals.

“Kelsey Riley played exceptionally well. She’s a good commodity to have. But all our kids did a good job,” said Buchanan.

The Lady Dragons settled the outcome in the first quarter by bolting in front 26-2. The lead was 45-13 at the half and it swelled to 65-18 after three quarters.

Beth Misner and Alexis Hurt scored 9 points each for River Valley (4-11, 1-6).
