Jack Bryant

Jack Emerson Bryant, 86, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 26, 1925, the son of the late Pearl L. and Martha Fields Bryant. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Jean Bell Bryant.

Jack was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. During his service to our country he received the Bronze Star Award. He was a former machine operator for Allied Chemical and a member of Central Christian Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Bryant, Ralph Bryant and David Bryant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by stepson, Rick Robinson and his wife, Roxanne of Ironton;

daughter, Lisa Ann Bryant of Ironton; son, Jack Donald Bryant and his wife, Jane of Columbus;

son, Steven Ray Bryant of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Crystal and Michael Fritz of Ashland, Ky.; and great grandchildren, Shelby, Garrett, Sydney and Braylyn.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Lavender officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-1:45 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Anna Belle Jenkins

Anna Belle Jenkins, 78, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Carter County, Ky., native was born Dec. 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Willard and Virgie Jones Salyers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins attended Russell Schools, was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Goodwill Club of Sherman Towers and the Greenup Senior Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Susan Bailey and Nina Jenkins; two brothers, Oscar Salyers and James Salyers; and two sisters, Martha Meadows and Alice Bear.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald “Hooker” and Rhonda Jenkins of Coal Grove, James “Ed” and Cathy Jenkins of McConnelsville and Bill and Susie Jenkins of Ironton; two daughters, Rose Mary Shope and Wayne Bruce of Pedro and Patricia Johnson and Charles Runyon of Ironton; a son-in-law, Rick Bailey of Pedro; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; uncle, Urcel Salyers of Flatwoods, Ky.; aunt, Juanita Salyers of Flatwoods; brother-in-law, Paul Hensley of Buckeye Lake; special caregiver, Tracy Mitchell of South Point; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2: p.m. Thursday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from noon until the time of the service at the church. Pallbearers will be David Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins, Lonnie Dalton, Ricky Bailey, George Stewart and Corey Depriest. Phillips Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Ray Sesher

Ray William Sesher 79 of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 20, 1932, the son of the late James and Elsie Grubb Sesher. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Sites Sesher whom he married Feb. 10, 1961.

Mr. Sesher was a 1952 graduate of Ironton High School and a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a retired Master Operator Technician for Dow Chemical and a member of Zoar Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and golfing. Mr. Sesher was an avid fan of the Ironton Fighting Tigers and the Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, James “Bern” Sesher and Lee “Rich” Sesher; and two sisters, Elsie Wilson and Ruth Eertmoed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Timothy Sesher of Cincinnati; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Pete Prewett of Pickerington; and a sister, Ada Eertmoed of Ironton.

Funeral services will be noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Beals and Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery. Lucy Honaker

COAL GROVE — Lucy Louise Honaker, 77, of Coal Grove died at home on Tuesday Jan. 24, 2012. She was born June 4, 1934, in Flatwoods, Ky., the daughter of the late Roscoe and Kathleen Estep Keeton. She was a retired waitress, and homemaker. She was preceded by her husband, Oscar G. Honaker; and two sisters Mary Lou Coon and Imogene Coon. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Louise Desalvi of Haverhill, Anna Rose McNeill of Asheboro, N.C., and Ellen Maria Kisor of Coal Grove; two sons, Arley Glendon Honaker of Ironton and Garrett Sterling Honaker of Flemingsburg, Ky.; two brothers, Roscoe James Keeton of Flatwoods, Ky., and Larry Keeton of Wurtland, Ky.; one sister Goldie Triplett of Ashland, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at a later date in Rude Cemetery in Flatwoods. Larry Curry

CHESAPEAKE — Larry “Buzz” Curry, 71, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Hospice House of Huntington. Dreama Jordan

Dreama Donn McDaniels Jordan, 75, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Trinity Station Retirement Community of Flatwoods, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 31, 1936, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary “Loretta” Gavin Carey.

Dreama Donn was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former secretary in the real estate division for the Federal Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. McDaniels, who passed away Sept. 19, 1978, and her second husband, Dr. Herbert K. Jordan, who passed away Aug. 24, 2011; son-in-law, Derek McCown; daughter-in-law, Leah McDaniels; and brother-in-law, Jim McDaniels.

She is survived by son, Michael McDaniels of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Dave Coburn of Franklin Furnace; grandchildren, Brianna McCown of Huntington, W.Va., Madison McDaniels of Ironton and Kyle McCown of Athens; stepson and his wife, Kenton and Gretta Jordan of Ironton; stepdaughter, Becky Jordan of Silver Spring, Md.; stepdaughter and her husband, Annie and Shannon Griffin of Marysville; stepson and his wife, Bill and Paul Jordan of Perrysburg; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bob Carey of Hilliard; sister-in-law, Carolyn McDaniels of Ironton; and stepgrandchildren, Kurt and Christina Jordan both of Athens,Kara Jordan of Columbus, Martha, William, and Henry Jordan all of Perrysburg, Anna Jordan of Silver Spring and Jordan Griffith of Marysville.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Strawn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Tyler McDaniels, Jimmy McDaniels, Darwin Haynes, Kurt Jordan, Bobby Carey and Kevin McCown and one honorary pallbearer, Paul David McDaniels.
