Moses Cuffie
Moses Thomas Cuffie Jr. 91 formerly of Ironton, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in Rockingham, N.C.
Born in Norfolk, Va., on Feb. 25, 1920, he was the son of Moses Thomas and Hannah Dennis Cuffie. He was married to the late Rosemary Williams Cuffie. He served in the U.S. Army. He pastored New Hope Baptist Church of Harrisburg for 43 years. He retired from General Telephone Co. with 30 years of service. He was involved in the NAACP and a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Cuffie, James Booker and Edward Booker; and two sisters, Annie Lloyd and Beatrice Potter.
Surviving are five daughters, Felecia Davis of North Carolina, Jwana McNeal of Texas, Bernice Lewis of North Carolina, Annie Brown of Virginia and LaRue Jenkins of Ohio; one son, Moses T. Cuffie of Virginia; one special son, the Rev. Grainger Davis of North Carolina; four granddaughters, Kendra Woods, Shayla Cuffie, Kisha Dugan and Kia Dugan; one great granddaughter, Mya Michelle Woods; and one sister-Janie Mitchell of Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Grainger Davis officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
Norman Hagerman
Norman Hagerman, 88, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hagerman. Arrangements are pending at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
