Edna McCown

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Edna Mae Martin McCown, 91, of Huntington, widow of Lewis Edward McCown, passed away Tuesday Feb. 7, 2012, at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton. She was born April 2, 1920, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Thelma LeGrand Martin. In addition to her parents and husband, an infant sister, Helen Martin and five brothers, Russell Martin, Verlin Martin, Charles Martin, Robert Martin and Ernest Martin, Jr., preceded her in death. She worked formerly for the Huntington Dress Factory, was a member of American League of Garment Workers and a member of Norway Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter and a very special son-in-law, Margaret and John Rehme of South Webster; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Robert “Bobby” and Marilyn McCown of Pleasant City; two sisters, Virginia Chinn of Kenova, and Barbara Martin of Huntington; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Rehme Adams and husband John Adams, John Christopher Rehme, Lewis Robert McCown, Jr., and Stephanie McCown; four great grandchildren, Anastatia “Taja” McCown, John Vincent “Jack” Adams III, Rhett Thomas Adams and Evelyn Wollpert; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Thomas Dannals and his secretary, Teresa Gibson, for their wonderful care over the years, and a special thank you to the staff at Jo-Lin Health Center for all their loving care and Community Hospice of Southern Ohio for their care of Edna. Brent Edwards

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Brent A. Edwards, 57, of Huntington, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the Putnam Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hurricane. There will be no service. John McKinney

HITCHINS, Ky. — John W. McKinney, Sr., 76, of Hitchins, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was the husband of Alberta Johnson McKinney, who survives. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with burial to follow in Edison Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Thomas Hatfield, 86, of Ironton, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
