Helen Aschenauer
Helen I. Lewis Aschenauer, 90, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born March 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Elijah and Alma Bailey Hanshaw.
Helen attended South Point Schools and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and former employee of South Point Pharmacy and Don Keys Restaurant. She loved reading from her Bible and visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Martin C. Lewis, who passed away October 1972; her second husband, Alfred A. Aschenauer, who passed away January 1978; a sister, Marjorie Barnett; a brother, Ivan Hanshaw; and daughter-in-law. Molly A. Lewis.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Joyce Lewis of Ironton; son, Martin “Marty” Lewis of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Dickison of Ironton; a sister, Goldie Huff of Ironton; 11 grandchildren, Steve and Lori Lewis, Kim and Darrell Cannon, Amy and Dana Lewis, Marta and Mike Farrell, Leslie and Dave Partridge, Mike and Amy Lewis, Elaine and Darrin Richardson, Michelle Adams, Veronica Dickison, Cheryl and Sam Robbins and Kristie Perry; 21 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
