Bruce Rogers

Bruce P. Rogers, 75, of Ironton, passed away in his home Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.

He was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Columbus, to the late James & Helen Pullien Rogers.

Bruce was a Tri-State cornerstone of business, owning (but not limited to) The Lions Den Styling Salon and Pegasus Luxury Coach.

He received his education in the Department of Human Services from the University of Kentucky and was a valedictorian majoring in business from NxLevel Entrepreneurial Institute.

Bruce garnered acclaim as a Kentucky colonel, earned the honor of a U.S. Diamond Award for the betterment of our country and was honored as an Ambassador of Goodwill to the State of West Virginia presented by the Secretary of State.

He attended Aenon Bible College as a foundation for his forthcoming ministries that included working with Nicky Cruz Outreach International, founding Bride of Christ Spirit of Faith Temple, PAM Evangelical Alliance, Victory Drama Theater and Living Hope Gospel Ministries of which he presided as Prelate Bishop at the time of his calling home.

Bishop Bruce P. Rogers was preceded in death along with his parents, by his brothers James & Charles Rogers.

His survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Yvonne Welch Rogers; and daughter, Erika who is married to Minister Kevin R. Weakley of Orlando, Fla.  He is also regarded as Dad to a host of loving spiritual sons and daughters.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Jerusalem Christian Center with Bishop Roy Lisath officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Wanda Carmon

Wanda Jean Carmon, 79, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 26, 1932, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Jaynes Koster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burl Carmon Jr., who passed away Nov. 30, 1982.

Mrs. Carmon attended Pedro School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Woodland Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Merlin Ralph Carmon; three brothers, Donald Koster, Lawrence Koster and Frankie Koster; and a grandson, Michael Paul Carmon.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky Vance of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Teresa Carmon of Ironton; five sisters, Deloris Depriest of Hecla, Betty Washburn of Ironton, Joyce Lawson of Pedro, Karen Knipp of Ironton and Stephenia Jenkins of Ashland, Ky.;

a brother, Clarence Koster of Coal Grove; three grandchildren, Tami Bailey and her husband, Kenny, Tommy Vance, Cassie Vance and her boyfriend, Ryan Sullivan, all of Ironton; two great grandchildren, David Bailey and Chassidy Bailey, both of Ironton; and one great grandchild on the way, Aidan Ryan Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Irene Wileman

Irene Murphy Wileman, 86, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Brooke Grove Assisted Living in Sandy Spring, Md. She was an Ironton, native, born on Jan. 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Nelle Peters Murphy and Maurice Murphy. She was married to Richard Wileman, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Irene had lived in Myrtle Beach since 1980, where she and Richard retired. She had been an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. Irene was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. In 2010, she moved to Maryland to be closer to her family.

In addition to her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her sisters, Nelle (Peggy) Herrell, Patty Vogelsong and Doris Kinney (her twin), as well as her granddaughter, Mary Irene Rafferty.

Irene will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Paul Rafferty; her grandchildren, Kathleen, Caroline, Richard and Annie Rafferty; her brother James Murphy and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Pamela Crittenden

Pamela Kay Bailey Crittenden, of Canyon Lake, Texas, formerly of Flatwoods, Ky., died at her residence. A memorial service will be Friday at noon at Bailey Family Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd L. Bailey and Assistant Pastor J.E. Smith.  Internment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup, Ky.
