Business leaders voice support for career center

Collins Career Center has played a critical role in the success of Liebert’s training program at the Ironton facility since our plant start-up in 2001.

Collins offers a wide range of technical training programs that is specific to our business. Collins offers education and training in HVAC, welding, blueprint/Schematics reading, and electrical.

The Collins Career Center staff has created customized training and testing programs specific to our manufacturing process such as brazing, maintenance and electrical wiring. There are no other training providers in the Tri-State area that have the same or similar capability that would meet our training and manufacturing needs.

In most cases, we are able to offer employment at Liebert to eligible students at Collins through the Ohio Apprenticeship program. This has had a positive impact on the students who are able to get experience from a Fortune 500 company, parents like the fact that their child is able to remain in the local area and Liebert is able to sustain a pool of skilled workers.

Vote yes for the levy March 6.

We here at Best Specialized would like to take this opportunity to voice our support for the Collins Career Center and the upcoming bond levy issue on the March 6 ballot.

Our company has been operating in Lawrence County since July of 2002 and has developed a relationship with the career center through the school apprenticeship program placing students in our maintenance garage for work experience.

I also serve on the advisory committee for the commercial truck and diesel repair program.

We here at Best Specialized understand the importance of quality education and understand the need for improvement in the training facilities at the Collins Career Center.

This levy and the tax dollars it generates will allow Collins Career Center to maintain and improve the facilities.

This will equate to continuing a quality education for the youth of Lawrence County and enable them to compete in the ever- changing world of work.

We encourage the voters of Lawrence County to support the Collins Career Center in their efforts March 6.
